Kiwix - An offline reader for web content. I use it to to make Wikipedia and Wikivoyage available without using the internet. Together they total 13GB. Kiwix can be downloaded as an app for PC or Android. Content can be downloaded here.

Maps.me - A map and navigation application with access to the free, worldwide, and high-quality OpenStreetMap.

Tripit - TripIt automatically creates a detailed daily itinerary for every trip by scanning your inbox for confirmation emails. My itinerary is also exported into my Google calendar.

Oanda - Currency conversation app. You can make widgets of individual currencies to keep on your home screen.

Google Drive - I have back up copies of my passport and all important documents stored there. Google Drive has an option to store files on the device offline. We also use Google Drive to upload pics of all receipts so we don't have to carry around paper.

Skyscanner - This is the first place I search for airfare.

Google Translate - Its possible to downlaod TTS voices by language and Google Translate will work completely offline.

Duolingo -  For learning languages.

Private Internet Access - An app created by the VPN service to use on smart phones.

Entrain - Entrain simulates your circadian clock on the phone and makes mathematically optimal lighting recommendations to help you adjust as fast as possible to new timezones and schedules.

Travigo and Booking.com apps for booking hotel rooms.
